The Logic Engine

Posted in

An excerpt from an e-mail conversation with Bear regarding Amok's secret project.

Work two days of each week on construction of the Logic Engine.  Ashumenta is set to studying her basics while this happens.  Amok would become consumed in this project if Ashumenta did not keep pulling him back to reality.  Amok has no idea when the construct will be complete.  When Ashumenta asks, he simply says the Engine will be ready when it can see as far into the past as it can already see into the present, and it will tell him when it's complete.  He's not trying to be especially cryptic and seems utterly serious.  If she's not scared off by how he gets when he's working on the Engine, it speaks well of their potential future together.

  • Amok has delegated plans for a marriage ceremony, and otherwise greatly productive in creating items. He also has a personal project that has not yet been divulged.
  • Cratus has been investigating the Lich who got away (Alton Athen and Salius temples have no updates). Salius is reopening and maintaining the  temple in the Skull/Grave. Cratus is looking for some type of protection against touch attacks.
  • Sylla goes to the spirit plane and speaks with the old gray one.
  • Time is about 1.5 months after the invasion was repulsed. The LLG has captured a number of prisoners, and returned with valuable information.

Here are my notes from Sunday.  Michael took more detailed written notes and will doubtless post corrections and additions.

We level to 8th, buy items in Corel, and prepare to go after the assassin in the Bloody Bucket in Corel.

Dirten is protected by the 3 Sisters in Redgate.

Cassidy is disguised throughout and never uses any druidic abilities where they might be tied to her.  She kills no one this adventure.

Descending into the tunnel below the river island shrine to Sciffish...

Mj running the 3 warrior sisters.

MM running Edge.  Father Joyle is staying topside with the children.

We track to bad guys down a 60' very steep shaft to a landing where there's track evidence of a humanoid or two, several Skum, and giant vampire bats.  There is a narrow 200' shaft down to a huge cavern with an underground lake, numerous stalactites and stalagmites, and a rocky island rising at the South end.  Pegs in the wall lead down, but Malena casts Feather Fall twice and we jump down in 4 tight groups.

The Natural Master, Pathfinder Prestige Class

Posted in

The Natural Master is a nature priest, usually a Druid or Ranger, who has devoted his life to the channeling of bodily and divine magical energies into physical combat in Wild Shape forms.  Levels in this Prestige class are most like the Monk class in progression, with the Wild Energy Pool Replacing the Monk's Ki Pool.  Rather than simply trying to harness nature's power, the Natural Master seeks to become one with that power.

Class Features

A Natural Master must be able to cast Divine spells from the Druid, Ranger, or any Nature Domain lists and have had the Wild Shape ability for at least 2 full character levels.

Game Date: Spring, 2 days after the battle of Redgate

Monk Archetype: Natural Master

Posted in

A Natural master focusses on using Natural weapons, rather than special Monk weapons, and gains their mastery from studying the movements of the natural world.  Such monks studies occur in a natural setting, usually both solitary and ascetic.  This archetype is heavily favored by shape shifters and others who develop or possess Natural Weapons use for one reason or another.  Druids, Ranger shape-changers, Transmuters, Alchemists, and Lycanthropes are numbered among those few who might seek Natural Mastery.

Natural Masters have proficiency in Simple Weapons, but no Martial Weapons.  They have proficiency in all Natural Weapons, and weapons that are made to mimic natural weapons, clawed Cestus being a favorite.  They may treat ONLY such weapons as "Special Monk" weapons.  Natural Masters treat Natural Weapons interchangeably and simultaneously as Unarmed, Natural, Monk Special, and Normal weapons.

Rather than the normal Monk Bonus Feat list, Natural Masters use the following:
