Uploading & Adding Images to Your Content

Avatar Badge

One of the best features of the web is the ability to easily integrate images into stories and articles, making them more attractive, immersive, and often more informative.  There are tools for uploading and inserting images into content you create for the Guild Avatar website, and this Help entry is intended to tell you how to do it.  The tools are not particularly intuitive, so a brief tutorial was definitely in order.

A Few Caveats, Provisos, & Quid Pro Quos

The file extensions that are allowed to be uploaded are limited.  Currently these are limited to: jpg jpeg gif png txt html doc xls pdf ppt pps odt ods odp docx xlsx dnd4e.  If you need other extensions added, please let me know.

The maximum file size you can upload is 2MB, and a graphics resolution of 1024x768 for images.  You also have a single user limit of 100MB.  Please keep your uploads to a reasonable level and use smaller and lower resolution images where possible.

Adding Your Own Game Content

Avatar BadgeIf you play in any of the D&D or Pathfinder campaigns managed on this site, you may want to add your own information to the "books" (a set of related web pages with links to one another) that have been set up for them.  The "book" for the Tremon campaign is at http://www.guildavatar.com/pathfinder/tremon, for instance.  That book and most of the pages under it belong to Bear, i.e. he has permission to edit or delete the content on those pages.  If you want to have your own page, you need to add it as a child page of one of the books.  If the page relates to your character, it should be added as a child page of the Characters page, at http://www.guildavatar.com/pathfinder/tremon/characters.  To do this, we'll use the fictitious character Sample as an example.  Go to the Characters page, and click on the 'Add child page' link at the bottom right hand corner, per the screenshot below:

Almost back

Sorry guys, clearly things are taking a bit longer then anticipated to get everything back up and running. We are still sorting through the module soup ingredients to get things flavorful again. Mike is working on the theme, the old one could not work with drupal 6 but on the plus side drupal 6 opens up a lot of options we did not have before.

EDIT: We're done with all the heavy lifting.  The site should be stable and useable for the foreseeable future.  Carry on.

upgrade

I have been stalling for a while but no more. We are upgrading to druapl 6... now. And possible for the rest of the weekend depending on how this shakes out. If things seem broken after I say things are good feel free to bitch at me.

Just for the record it's all MJ and his boundless enthusiasm's fault ;).

I have enabled a new rich text editor. It dose not have the integration with gallery but I'll see if I can fix that. It also dose not many of the problems the last one did so give it a try out and let me know what you think.

link fix and notification change

I think I have the email embedded links now fixed.

I have also changed the default behavior to to now exclude sending your own messages back to you. You can toggle that via the subscription setting in your user profile.

In theory

In theory I have re added RSS feeds for the site (including comments, not tested). and subscriptions and hopefully the email's will no longer be quite to garbled. I also added some anti spam stuff cause the account spammers are really annoying me (why anyone feels that useful is beyond me).
Anyway you should now see a subscribe link immediately bellow my text, cavet drill through to full article. Not sure yet how to make that show on the main page.

The new subscribe is nice, it will ask you things like, this blog, this article, just the comments etc. Cavet, you will probable need to resubscribe to things you follow though it looks the admin can do some bulk stuff.

You will want to resubscribe to the rss feeds, the new one's are fast again (or seem to be right now).
