Visionary HARP Combat Tracker

I've created a new web based software tool called Visionary.  It's a HARP combat tracker and the new is version 0.2.  If you're in the HARP campaign, you already have an account, and I'd appreciate it if you'd login (your first name, with the password changeme, except in the case of Kirsten and Mel where I've used your usual passwords) and create a template for your character in the Bestiary.  I hope most of it is self explanatory, but where it's not obvious, most fields can be editied by double clicking on them.  Exceptions to the first name account rule are: Kirsten=synedra, Mike MacDonald=Mac, Mike McKay=Michael, Mike Jones=szaijan.

Note: The Javascript does not work in Internet Explorer.  I don't know why.  It didn't seem to work in Firefox 2, but worked fine on Susan's system.  Caveat emptor.  To the best of my knowledge, it works quite well in Safari and Firefox 3, on PC, Mac, or Unix/Linux.

Note: The new version is running on Slicehost and should be available 24x7.

If you're not in the campaign but would like to play with the tool, let me know and I'll make you an account.

Harp RPG Cover

I just discovered that Iron Crown Enterprises (affectionately known as Iron Lung by most of my friends) published a newer version of my favorite RPG system, Rolemaster, in 2003. The "lite" version of Harp is available via PDF download here. To actually buy the game, click on the game book cover to the left. A casual perusal looks quite promising for those nostalgic for "Chart Master". Much of what was cool has been retained and cleaned up.

Combat charts have been reduced to a single critical chart reference, at least in the "lite" version.  It's simpler even than the excellent MERP rules, but retains most of the flavor.  As to how it plays... 2 sec, single action combat rounds can work well, but they have you roll initiative each round, which is a drag.  There is, however, a data set for PCGen, which could simplify the administration if we can get that set up and running well.  Very intriguing.
