After reading a review I made a impulse purchase on a iPhone game called Reiner Knizia's Samurai. This is a pretty fun bear and pretzels type board game setup to run as a turn based phone game. It supports multiplayer and online play. The essentials are to compete and capture resources by placing tokens on the game board to surround said resources and effect influence for capture or tie. As with most good board games, play is simple but victory conditions are complex. You have to really watch what is getting captured rather then just pursuing your own goals. Anyway, I have been looking for something new, having burned out a bit on uniwar with a nice turnbase feel. I think it's a bit pricey at $4.99 though, so it might be worth waiting to see if get down to a more reasonable buck or so.

I read something about this
I read something about this when he was developing it. It's his take on a "german board game" version of Go. Sounds great. I'll give it a shot. IMO, Slay is the best iPhone game I've played so far. I went through the free version and immediately bought the full version. Haven't regretted it. Also, the iPhone version of Carcasonne is the best done iPhone game I've seen, hands down. If you don't like the board game you might no care for the iPhone game, but as a piece of software it's killer.

This is based on a board game
This is based on a board game published by Rio Grande games. It's reviewed really well with other gamers in my area, but I haven't played it yet. I'm not really surprised, Rio Grande is producing some of the best games out there right now.
