The calendar predates the Nerani Empire and are generally lost in antiquity. Years are reckoned differently by nation and people, but the annual calendar is supposedly based on the natural order and is identical in almost every culture. For Nentir Vale, the campaign began in the year 311 since the Fall (meaning the fall of the Nerani Empire, when the last Emperor died and was not replaced.) The "months" are each comprised of 2 fortnights (2x14 days) with a "Day of Rest" at the end of each fortnight, and are divided into early/mid/late sections of each of the four seasons. There is a 5 day festival at the end of each Late Winter, which marks the end of the year and is a progressive celebration mixed with community chores. In Nentir, it is a time to come together and heal from the harsh onslaught of winter. e.g. 11 Mid-Fall, 311 is the 11th day in the first fortnight of the second 30 days of the Fall season, in the 311th year since the Fall of the Nerani Empire.
